Years of conflict, political turmoil, and recent shifts in governance have further deteriorated living conditions in Afghanistan. Economic struggles have pushed countless families into extreme poverty, unable to afford basic necessities. Food insecurity is widespread, with millions facing malnutrition due to collapsing agricultural output and ongoing disruptions in supply chains.
Basic rights and freedoms, particularly for women and girls, have been drastically restricted, resulting in extensive social and educational marginalization. Healthcare access has also worsened, with many clinics lacking critical resources and trained personnel to meet the growing needs.
The OMID Foundation in Afghanistan remains committed to providing life-saving assistance in Afghanistan, focusing on healthcare, education, economic well-being, and empowerment. We also focus on creating inclusive, sustainable solutions that uplift all members of the society to help them recover and rebuild their lives.
Acces to healthcare is anything but self-evident in Afghanistan. It has been life-threatening for many Afghans, including millions of children suffering malnutrition. We support the children of the Indira Gandhi Institute and provide sustainable aid on the long term.
No country can move forward when half it’s population is left behind. We work hard together with our donors and partners to support girls having an education through scholarschips at private universities to keep the educational infrastructure going.
We support Afghans in the most critical areas through the provision of cash and voucher assistance together with the help of our local partners.
Those who are recovering from conflict and disaster need to understand their rights and make informed choice for their futures, especially young girls and women. We empower them to recover and rebuild their lives through our programs.

In Turkey we provide vital support to refugees through cash assistance and food packages, ensuring they have the resources they need to survive and thrive. Our efforts are aimed at alleviating immediate hardships and offering a sense of stability in their lives, especially women and children.
In the Netherlands, we work alongside our local partners to assist asylum seekers and refugees in succesfully integrating into society. Our programs focus on offering guidance, support, and resources to help them build new lives and become active, contributing members of their new communities.
However, due to lack of capacity, we are not yet able to perform optimally in these countries. Over the next few years, we are committed to building and enhancing our capacity to better serve those in need. Together, our initiatives in Turkey and the Netherlands strive to create a brighter and more secure future for refugees and asylum seekers.
